After planning with the group we decided that since the sub-genre for our film is 'Child Horror', the title should me in pastel coloured bubble writing to give it that Innocent look. But as the main genre is 'Horror' we had to make it look slightly gory in some way. This lead to the suggestion of having blood dripping off of each letter in the title.
To get this look I went to a website called Da Font. This website includes thousands of font sizes to choose from but to narrow down my choices I typed 'horror' in the search box which lead to a page filled with creepy looking fonts. I scrolled until I came accross this font.
I changed the writing into the title of our film 'BITTER REVENGE' which ended up looking like this.
However the colour was obviously not correct so through editing using the paint software on my laptop I managed to change the black into pastel colours so it looked like this.
The title then ended up looking like melting ice lollies so to make the drips look like blood I used a red coloured pencil tool to draw squiggles near the top of the drips and the filled the drips in with the same red paint which gave me the end result.

Radio Trailer for Amityville: The Awakening
As I could not find the perfect radio trailer for horror films I have decided to use the sound from the original video trailers without looking at it to analyse as a radio trailer.
The trailer for 'Amityville: The Awakening' starts of by challenging the conventions of horror trailers with slow, glum music instead of eerie music which suggests that the characters are not very happy at the beginning of the film. The first speech we hear is "Home sweet home" before another character expresses her dislike about the situation they are in. This indicates that a family have moved into a new home but not everyone is pleased with the shift. This may make the audience think 'we've seen it all before' as there are hundreds of other horror films out there that involve a family moving into a new haunted house.
However as the trailer goes on we hear the beeping of hospital equipments and heavy breathing. This could distress the consumers a little as they are not sure where the sound is coming from. There is a few seconds of silence to build up the tension and then suddenly we hear a gush of wind and a character lets out a frightened gasp. This makes the audience sympathise with the character because just like her, they do not know what to expect at this point.
All of a sudden loud eerie music plays which makes the audience want to know what is going on. Then the hospital beeps continue to let the audience know that it has something to do with James who was mentioned at the beginning about being ill.
This is a very effective way of persuading people to watch the film as it leaves the consumers hanging as the do not know the whole background story of the film so they will go to watch the movie to find out what happens to the characters.
The use of silence really helped build up the fearful atmosphere because right after a period of silence a loud sound effect was played to make the consumers jump, which is what everyone expects from a horror film.
This definitely made me want to go watch this film, what about you?

Observation of Sample Audience Whilst Watching "The Ring" (2002)
I gathered some of my friends who are around the age range of 17 - 18, which is within my focus group of anyone over the age of 12, to be my sample audience whilst they watch a horror film of the same sub - genre as mine so I can observe their reactions whilst watching certain scenes and the later question them. After a very very long time we decided to go for "The Ring" (2002).
Before the film started every body wanted the lights switched off and the door closed to enhance the atmosphere for us while we watch the film. This showed that they watch horror films for entertainment and to be scared as everything is scarier in the dark. They also got cosy with blankets and stuck to one sofa all together because even know they like watching horror films and the feeling of terror, they felt safer with each other around.
At the beginning of the film when the dark haired girl, Beckie, was telling the story about the 'forbidden' tape, the camera kept getting closer and closer to her face. This automatically made my sample audience think that something would pop out of nowhere or that a loud sound effect would play. This caused them to cover their ears and half of their eyes to prepare for the sudden outburst. However nothing happened so they became calm.
Later on when the girl was looking for her friend, my sample audience again felt as if something bad was about to happen and so when she got closer to turning the door knob, they constantly yelled "Don't go in there!" "What are you doing?!" When she finally got into the room and realised the T.V was on, she started to scream which made my sample audience jump and some of them gasped from shock.
When the little boy, Aidan, walked into Katie's room and saw the moving image reflecting on the switched off T.V, my sample audience exchanged bewildered looks with each other as they knew that this is the same thing that Katie experienced.
Further on in the film when Rachel sat down with the tape, deciding whether to put it in or not, my sample audience reacted the same way as they did when Katie was entering the room near the beginning of the film.
When the sample audience found out the story of Samara's past, they showed signs of sympathy through words like "Aww" and "Oh no" etc. This showed that they were starting to feel sorry for her as they did not know the reason behind evilness.

Radio Trailer Mood Board
The radio will include creepy lullaby music playing in the background.
There will also be sudden screams and heavy breathing sounds in the middle to make the consumers jump.
We will also hear weeping sounds at the end of the trailer.
In the middle there will be silence for a few seconds then there will be wind howling and leaves rustlings sounds.
The narrator of the trailer will have deep tone of voice so the trailer sounds creepier.
