Costume and Props List

  • Creepy doll- This will be used when the girls go camping and the doll is sticking out of a characters bag as well as creeping up in particular scenes such as when Lana is in her room getting ready for the trip, the camera will focus attention on the doll.
  • Bag pack for each teenage girl- This would be needed to show when the girls arrive in the graveyard that they are ready to start their trip with their essentials inside.
  • Hairbrush- This will be needed to in the first scene where we see Lana getting ready in her bedroom and brushing her hair.
  • Lighting- We will need lighting for every scene as good lighting is needed in order to make the camera quality pop. We will need lighting in Lanas bedroom scene and the camping scene such as LED special lights in order to give the effect of us being around a campfire.
  • Kids are going to wear school uniform- The kids in our flashback will be needing to wear school uniform to show how they are in school bullying Nailah as a child. Them wearing the school uniform will set the scene as make it look realistic that it is a school environment.
  • Teenage girls are going to wear winter outdoor clothing (winter scarves and coats)- This is important as we need our characters to dress the part of the weather and look cosy as if they are going out to a camping trip so they have to dress nice and warm.
  • Blankets- This will be needed to set the mood and atmosphere as the girls will be huddled around the campfire, eating marshmallows and warming up telling stories.
  • Marshmallows- This will be used for eating around the campfire as marshmallows on sticks are a common prop used in the movies when friends go on a camping adventure.
  • Skipping rope & outdoor activities- These props will be needed to show how the chilren are in a school environment playing outside as they would do in break time. These props sets the atmosphere of being a in child friendly area.
  • Knife- This will be needed when Nailah kills the teenage girls as she uses this weapon to start her revenge.
  • Naila will be having stitches on her face (done by makeup)- This is done to make her look like a dangerous and evil villian as then it will be easier for the audience to identfy that she is the bad character in the movie.
  • Naila's face makeup will be pale- This will show that there is something wrong with her as illistrate how she is not a normal healthy little girl.
  • Candles- The candles will be used during Nailahs funeral as the candles will be laid next to Nailahs picture to show her sad passing.
  • Bunch of flowers- These will also be used in Nailahs funeral as it will show her friends paying respect of her passing as they lay out flowers of her remembering.
  • Revenge note- This revenge note will be written by Nailah

Group Meetings

Meeting 1 - 23/09/14
Time: 12:00 - 12:15
What We Discussed:
The age group for our film should be teenage girls aged 12 and over so the film will be the classification of 12A. The type of sounds we want in our horror film is a child crying, wailing, little giggle sounds and laughter as well as creepy lullaby music in the background whilst portraying the evil child. We decided that for the mise en scene we would like to focus our film on a creepy doll that a little girl always carries around with her to show her innocence but reveal the devilish side behind the meaning of the doll. We also wanted the little evil girl to have weird, horrific makeup such and messy hair to illustrate how she is not a ordinary child! We decided to include camera shots such a tracking shot by taking the action along with the audience, a point of view shot from the evil characters point of view so we see exactly what she is plotting, long shot and establishing shot to show the scenery and narrative of the place. In the next meeting we will discuss what we will name our characters that will play in our film and how many characters are needed.

Meeting 2 - 1/10/14
Time: 11:00 - 11:10
What We Discussed:
-In this quick group meeting we discussed how many characters will be in our film and we thought it should be a group of 4 teenage girls going camping and we needed a evil character named "Naila" so we used one of our group members little sister. We decided to name her Naila because in Arabic this means One who succeeds/accomplishes as Naila's character will succeed in her revenge. We also will decided to use Naila's group of friends to show how they used to hang out together in the playground as part of a flashback. We decided that the names of teenage girls would be Inayah, Lana, Saliha and Zahrah. In our next group meeting we will discuss editing techniques used in our film such as a flashback or a fade in.

Meeting 3 - 26/10/14
Time: 10:50pm

During this whatsapp conversation we were deciding what type of editing technique to use when showing the doll to the audience. We came up with using a focus editing technique to portray how the doll is an important aspect to the horror movie and we decided that the camera will turn close focus on the doll whilst a showing a character. We also discussed how the doll will be haunting the girls in the camping trip as the doll will be popping out of a girls camping bag to show shes lurking around and haunting the girls!

Meeting 4 - 3/11/14
Time -10:50
What We Discussed:
We went to Wellington Primary School where we are going to film in for our flashback. As well as visiting the place we handed out the permission letters for the young girls participating in our film and handle the permission letters to the teachers. We also went and visited the location of the park we are going to use by looking and we looked around to see if the location was well suited for what we wanted to film. The location was good as it had swings which was the main prop needed as we are going to use Naila the young girl who will be swinging on the swing at the end of our film.

Meeting 5 - 10/11/14
Time - 3:10 - 3:45

What We Discussed:
We received a call back from Wellington Primary School with the news that we will not be able to film there as the parents of the children will be against it. Due to this we had to decide on a different school playground setting as soon as possible as the time for our filming was nearing. After much consideration we opted for Malmesbury Primary School which is a 5 minute walk away from our school so it would be very convenient for us. After visiting the school we managed to get permission for the filming. This led to another problem as we had recruit four new young actresses for the flashback scene as parents of the students at Wellington would not allow their daughters to travel to Malmesbury for our film. We then decided to recruit our relatives who are around the same age as the character of Naila.

Meeting 6 - 20/11/14
Time 12:40 - 1:30

What We Discussed:
We got together to discuss what we want our poster to look like. The poster survey results we did earlier were of great use at this point as it outlined what our target audience want to see in a horror film poster. This led to the decision that the main image will take up the entire poster and the writing on top will be in pastel colour dripping blood. The rest of the poster will be very gloomy using white black and red font colour. To be on the safe side each of us created our own posters so we were left with three to choose from at the end.

Meeting- 7/1/15
Time:12:00- 12:15
Today we presented our offline edit so far to our target audience they thoroughly enjoyed watching it and gave us some improvements these include.
1. Lana will press play so the music starts so we know where the music is coming from
2. Music ends when Lana’s phone rings
3. Close up shot of Lana putting on lipstick so we have a range of camera shots
4. Point of view shop of the bullies running around Naila in a circle to show how irritating it is for her to be bullied in this constant circle
5. Flashback colour change, so it would represent an unhappy time, the colour red which will be used links back to the horror genre

These improvements will be added on to ensure our target audience are satisfied with what they are watching.

Group Meeting 8
10/1/15
TIME: 3:30-4:30
Today we met up after school to have a makeup trial on our villian Nailah. We had to decide on the makeup look we are going to do on her to make her look as scary as possible. We started off by deciding that she will be wearing all white so she picked out a simple white dress to wear. We also added scratch marks in her face to give her appearence that something is wrong with her. We gave her black under eye patches and made her look dead with a pale face. We finished off by making her hair very messy like and untamed to give her a viscous and dangerous appearance.

Quote of The Day

“The 3 types of terror: The Gross-out: the sight of a severed head tumbling down a flight of stairs, it's when the lights go out and something green and slimy splatters against your arm. The Horror: the unnatural, spiders the size of bears, the dead waking up and walking around, it's when the lights go out and something with claws grabs you by the arm. And the last and worse one: Terror, when you come home and notice everything you own had been taken away and replaced by an exact substitute. It's when the lights go out and you feel something behind you, you hear it, you feel its breath against your ear, but when you turn around, there's nothing there..." - Stephen King

Our film, Bitter Revenge, would be the second type of terror according to Stephen King because it doesn't have any gruesome scenes that make people sick, nor does it create fear without vision. It is the second one because our film has the unnatural aspect to it as the dead character, Naila, comes back to life!

Risk Assessment For Equipment

EQUIPMENT
HAZARD
HOW MIGHT IT BE HARMED?
HOW WILL I PREVENT IT FROM HAPPENING?
HAZARD RATING

LIGHTING
There is a risk of breaking the lighting equipment as we carry the lighting from location to location since we don’t have any other form of transport other than walking.
The lighting could break as the pole can snap if not handled properly. Also if dropped the glass may shatter which could enter someone’s eye.
To prevent it from breaking there will be two people holding the lighting and carrying it the locations so if there is a less likely chance of it being dropped.
4/5

TRIPOD
There is a risk of the tripod getting knocked over whilst filming and damaging the tripod along with the camera.
The tripod may be harmed because if you are placing the tripod in a classroom and near a door, when somebody enters the classroom they might unknowingly knock it down.
To prevent it from happening we will make sure there is a sign on the door in the classroom we film in to prevent people from accidentally entering.
3/5

DIGITAL
CAMERA
One of us might end up dropping the camera on the floor whilst filming because our focus will be on the characters.
The camera may be harmed as the lens could break upon dropping. This could also cause us to lose any previous shots.
To prevent the hazard from taking place, the person in charge of filming must be careful at all times when filming with the camera and must be precautions.
5/5

Mic
There is a risk that the mic gets broken or damaged.
This risk can occur if somebody accidentally stamps on the mic and smashes it. This could also happen due to the rain.
To prevent this hazard from taking place whoever is using the mic needs to be careful and hold the mic properly. I it rains all equipment should be kept under shelter.

Risk Assessment For Location

LOCATION

HAZARD

WHO MIGHT BE HARMED AND HOW?

HOW WILL I PREVENT IT FROM HAPPENING?

HAZARD RATING

GRAVE -YARD
- The area is surrounded by trees and bushes so we need to be precautious as we may trip over sticks or stones and get hurt whilst trying to film.
- There can also be a hazard if the weather starts to change and it ends up raining because we would not be able to get clear shots and the fire would go out.
- Since we are lighting a camp fire there may be health and safety hazards such as the stresses or film crew getting burnt.
- The person in charge of the camera may be harmed if they trip over anything as their focus will be on the camera and actors.
- The equipment may be harmed because if it starts to rain the camera and microphone will get destroyed so they won’t work as well.
- We might be harmed as well as our actors taking part. Moreover, the environment may be harmed if the campfire spreads and burns the wildlife.
- We will prevent any injuries by keeping a distance from the fire. Moreover, we will have a teacher assisting us while we are near the fire so there is a less chance we will get harmed as the teacher will take control and set up the campfire
- To avoid this hazard from occurring we will be careful on where we step and walk around the area softly and carefully avoiding anything that could harm us or trip us up.
- To prevent this hazard from occurring we will stop filming if it starts to rain and change our filming day to a dry day.
5/5

SCHOOL PLAYGRO -UND
- We might accidently capture another child from the school whom we don’t have permission to film.
- There is a hazard risk associated with the children who are our actors as whilst they act out the bullying scene they might accidently get hurt whilst pushing each other around.
The child actors may be harmed as they might accidently hit each other whilst they are acting out the bullying scene and which could become quite serious.
To prevent it from happening we will make sure the children do not actually make any physical contact with each other so there is no violence and that they are only verbally bullying the charter of Naila
3/5

BEDROOM
- There is a hazard of spilling any water/drinks, this could fall on the equipment or on the floor causing people to slip.
- Room may be too small for filming so people might be tripping over equipment and any props.
Our equipment may be harmed such as our prop of using a doll as if any liquid drops on the doll, it will get ruined and won’t be suitable to use no longer.
To prevent the hazard from happening, we will make sure before we film in the bedroom there will be no fizzy drinks or any sort of liquid that is able to spill in the bed covers removed from the scene and room.
4/5

CLASS -
ROOM
- There is a risk of fire hazards in a classroom because if the plugs are not switched off or overloaded it can cause a fire which will be dangerous to film in a classroom full of children.
The children in the classroom as well as the teacher can be harmed and risk of any fire hazards.
To avoid this hazard from taking place we will remember to switch off any unnecessary plugs.
